First, a picture of a very young Mr. J. C. Lowe at a Sports Day, judging by the cups on the table.

He also wanted the School to be better known in higher circles.
So a gift to the Palace - and a kind response.

The letter appears to have been signed by Sir Edward Ford, private secretary to HM Queen Elizabeth II, 1952-67 - so the Queen would actually have seen the magazine.

There were all sorts of debates.

Here, it is about the "new" school in Scarbrook Road, Croydon...

.. And, here, concerning the cost of the new JRGS location in Shirley, to which the school moved in 1955!

Then there was building of the new school on Upper Shirley Road...

And the Field Dinner legacy lived on - with no (?) complaints!

Finally, the new school building was opened on 11 January, 1955.

 

Not quite with the Illuminated Scroll and Golden Key - but the School Record shows that it was done with some pride.
