Spring 1951 School Magazine Series III - Number 9 |
Here is a scanned copy of the Spring 1951 edition of JRGS School Magazine, kindly supplied by Mike Marsh and imaged by Paul Graham (JRGS 1959-66). Each of the images are offered as individual JPEG files.
Paul Graham
writes: Some interesting views by Mr. Lowe on the "new" GCE system and the end
of the old School
Certificate (page 4 and
page 5); looking forward to a school trip to
the 1951 Festival of Britain; the founding of the Army
Cadet Force by "AWB" -
Mr. A. W. Badcock (apparently it helped prepare you for National Service); two
Fifth formers
cycling to Cornwall on holiday (page 18
and page 19, how times change);
and a mysterious poem by a member of staff on
page 34 giving the flavour of the
staff room (WAC - who he?). And I wonder where Mr. "Wally" Cracknell's gift to
the school library of a leather-bound set of Dickens (page 9) got to when the
school eventually closed? |
