Roger Adcock (JRGS (1963-67) and Trevor Adcock JRGS (1966-72)
write: "We found this edition in our father's papers amongst a pile of
school magazines. Brian Arthur Adcock (JRCS 1931-36/37) was in form VC
- Mr. William 'Wally' Cracknell's class - during 1936.
Paul
Graham (JRGS 1959-66) adds: "This is a fascinating document. Despite a
school trip to Paris, there is absolutely no hint of the world political
situation in 1938 or the terrible war to come the next year.
Pages 1 and
page 21 mention a move
scheduled for September 1939 on to a new site as the 'Addiscombe Grammar
School'. Maybe this was cut short by the war, but I don’t recall ever hearing
about this before. It was only three years after the move to Tamworth Road. Does
anybody know where the planned Addiscombe site was? |
